Self Portrait at 23, 2022

This book serves as a documentation and self portrait of who I feel I am right now. The imagery is a combination of everything I own that meant enough to me to move from childhood and keep with me through college and into adulthood, as well as things I’ve accumulated while transitioning from a scared 18 year old to an adult. There are 96 snapshot images of objects I felt were important in who I’ve become as an artist and individual. The text on the back is a word vomit of snippets from my journal and thoughts I’ve had about things since turning 23 last month. Juxtaposing the images of silly childhood and mundane objects with the stressed ramblings of an “adult,” I wanted to show how dynamic and confusing and overwhelming your twenties can be.
